Laser Attenuation and Ranging Correction in the Coal Dust Environment Based on Mie Theory and Phase Ranging Principle

The inadequate ventilation and complex environments in underground coal mines lead to a high concentration of dust particles. As result, the health miners accuracy laser rangefinder measurements are endangered. It is crucial enhance rangefinder’s efficiency mitigate risks reduce labor intensity. In this study, we propose power attenuation model ranging correction address issues inaccurate environments. proposed models based on theoretical analysis practical experiments, both dependent particle size (<250 μm) mass concentration. Firstly, assessed factors that caused demonstrated our could accurately predict them (maximum residual 0.06). Secondly, obtained connection between coefficient by applying Lambert–Beer law. Lastly, established collecting wavelength information. outcomes show root mean square error corrected values ranges 0.27 0.47 mm. To summarize, suggested technique can efficiently precision measurements, thus improving work mines.
